Best Paleo Fried Chicken Recipes

Everybody loves fried chicken. And traditionally, you might think of fried chicken as something of a treat and not something you can enjoy on a healthy diet. But, we’re very pleased to inform you that there are some exceptions to the rule…

Today, we’re going to introduce you to some of the top fried chicken recipes on the net that you can even enjoy when you’re on a strict Paleo diet. Yes, it can be done!

As you may already know, fried chicken is traditionally made with breadcrumbs, which are a big no-no on the Paleo diet.

So in order to break free of this tradition, cooks and chefs have to get a little more creative to produce fried chicken for Paleo dieters. And we’re pleased to report that they’ve done a great job of it, too!

Addidon Labonte’s Crispy Paleo Fried Chicken

Now, this is a great little recipe, and we can confirm that it’s perfect for anyone on the Paleo diet. This is because there are no breadcrumbs, no cornstarch, no wheat flour, and no buttermilk.

Instead, it uses tapioca flour and almond flour, which are both great Paleo flours. And it also happens to be gluten-free, grain free, and sugar-free. And it can be enjoyed as part of the Whole30 diet, too.

And not only is it substantially healthier than traditional fried chicken, but it’s also incredibly easy to make and only takes 30 minutes to make from start to finish.

And the result? Tender chicken breast with a crispy, golden, perfectly seasoned crumb.

Tina Tsai’s Almond Flour Fried Chicken

Now this is a great fried chicken recipe too. And not only is it suitable for those on a Paleo diet, but you can also enjoy it on a Keto diet as well.

This fried chicken is a little less complicated than the one we showed you previously because it only uses one type of flour, namely almond flour. It also happens to provide slightly fewer calories per serving.

There are some top herbs and spices for the seasoning, namely garlic, paprika, and optional (but highly recommended) cayenne pepper.

A lot of people have given this a try and 50 of them left reviews, giving it an average rating of 4.4 stars out of 5.

Alyssa Brantley’s Paleo Fried Chicken

Now, this is a recipe that ticks all the boxes. Not only is it Paleo, but it’s also Keto friendly, low-carb, dairy-free, gluten-free, and it can be enjoyed on the Whole30 diet.

It has been made widely popular on social media, with well over 4,000 shares so far.

One of the great things about this recipe is that the chicken is oven-fried rather than deep-fried, so it uses a lot less oil, and is naturally lower in calories and therefore healthier. 

In addition to using almond flour for the crumb, it also uses almond meal, which is how come the chicken is so crispy on the outside, even though it’s so juicy and tender on the inside.

London Brazil’s Paleo Fried Chicken Tenders with Honey Mustard Sauce

If you love to dip your fried chicken in sauce for extra flavor, then you should totally check out this recipe. I was so glad I found it, it’s so hard to find good sauces and dips that are Paleo friendly. And this sauce really packs a punch, too.

And it happens to be really quick to make as well, you can have it ready in under 30 minutes, and that’s including the prep time. It’s also the lowest calorie recipe per portion on our list.

The sauce is super simple to make, you simply mix equal amounts of honey and mustard.

Don Baiocchi’s Paleo and Gluten-Free Fried Chicken

Not only is this recipe suitable on the Paleo diet, but is also gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free, nut-free and can be enjoyed on the Whole30 diet.

There are a number of things about this recipe that make it quite different from the other Paleo fried chicken recipes out there. Instead of using almond flour, it uses cassava flour. And the great  thing about that is that the fried chicken doesn’t end up greasy.

And it also uses an acid (either lemon juice or apple cider vinegar) to marinate the chicken before the “breading”.

Jess’s Paleo Air Fryer Crispy Chicken

A lot of Paleo fried chicken recipes call for coconut milk, but this one contains shredded coconut to really take the “breading” and the taste to the next level. There’s also a nice bit of spice to it too, thanks to the garlic powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper.

And because it’s cooked in an air fryer rather than deep-fried, there’s significantly less oil required, and in turn significantly fewer calories as a result.
