About Us

We are Charles and Julie (Sullivan) Mayfield…simply two home cooks and parents with an immense joy of growing, cooking and eating fantastic food.

We love sharing what we learn along the way with others. As the saying goes ‘give a man a fish and feed him for a day…teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime’.

Our adventure into eating a Paleo lifestyle started in 2008. Since then, we have spent hours refining recipes and giving our followers creative and tasty ideas that promote optimal health. Once we saw the results that came from eating this way, it became our mission to share our culinary exploits with friends and family…why not the world. Our children eat what we eat and rarely leave a morsel on their plates.

Food should be nutritious, enjoyed and shared with those you love. We try to keep stress and anxiety around food at a minimum and don’t obsess over the details. There is a reason you bring a neighbor a meal when they celebrate the arrival of a newborn or when you want to comfort during a time of grief. Food is webbing that often binds us together as humans. That is why we love sharing our recipes with you.

We are many things and classically trained chef is not one of them. Our passion for cooking comes from years of time in the kitchen cooking for friends, ourselves and family. Julie is a stay at home mom and runs the Paleo Comfort Foods ship of the household. When she’s not chasing around our two kids (Scott and Adelyn), you can find her tending to the garden, gathering up fresh eggs or coming up with the next diabolically tasty recipe idea for the family. Charles’ days are spent helping food industry companies (and individuals) with their insurance needs. He has also recently started a regenerative farming practice and is presently growing food for 25 families in our extended community. Hunting, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and craft distilling are among his favorite hobbies when he has a free moment.

We hope you enjoy our books, farming adventures and the content we post here on our website. It warms our heart to hear stories of people regaining their health and energy making smarter choices in the kitchen.
