We are Charles and Julie (Sullivan) Mayfield…simply two home cooks and parents with an immense joy of growing, cooking and eating fantastic food.
We love sharing what we learn along the way with others. As the saying goes ‘give a man a fish and feed him for a day…teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime’.
Our adventure into eating real, natural and nutrient-dense food started in 2008. Since then, we have spent hours refining recipes and coming up with unique and fun ways to prepare food to make it really tasty. Personally, we follow this paleo lifestyle because we look, feel and perform better this way. It works for us in our lives, and now we’re raising our kiddos this way too.
We believe that food should be something enjoyed and shared, not stressed out and/or obsessed over. We believe that there is a reason you bring a neighbor a meal when they are celebrating the arrival of a new baby, or when you are wanting to help comfort them in times of recovery. Food is life, and is a very fun part of our life, and as much as we love to cook for our friends and families, we love being able to share these recipes with you.
Note: while Charles would love to be a “professional” hunter, neither one of us are professionally trained chefs who attended the Culinary Institute of America, nor are we medical professionals and authorized in any way to offer medical advice. Just wanted you to know. If you came by here looking to learn how to tourné a potato, or are wanting lengthy, science-y, scholarly research-cited article as to why grains might be problematic, we’re sorry to disappoint. But we will be more than happy to provide you with some ideas as to where you might find such info!
We hope you enjoy our book and the content we’re putting up here. We love sharing the things we’re passionate about with others, and we hope that perhaps you’ll learn something fun and/or useful along the way.
